Philippines | Information on Philippine Bureau of Immigration Commissioner

Summary

The Philippine Bureau of Immigration Commissioner, Atty. Norman Tansingco has been dismissed from his position effective this afternoon.

The dismissal is expected to lead to delays in the processing of ongoing applications with the Bureau, impacting BOI’s operational procedures.

This also implies that the Commissioner’s appointees with the Immigration office will have to render their courtesy resignation and have to vacate their posts/assignments.

Effect on applications

As this information was just announced to the public, the Philippine President has yet to announce a replacement.

With this, we expect delays in the approvals of applications particularly on the 9g visa applications and Motion for Reconsiderations.

In addition, applications that were filed and were addressed to the Commissioner will likely have to be refiled/replaced to reflect the details of the new Commissioner.
