Qatar | New requirement of settling traffic violations prior to exiting the country
Summary
The Ministry of Interior has announced a new requirement of settling outstanding traffic violations prior to travelling outside of the country.
The Detail
The Ministry of Interior announced that effective 1 September 2024, traffic violators will be prohibited from leaving the country via any state border (land, air, or sea) without paying their violations first.
The Ministry also announced a 50% reduction on traffic fines for all motor vehicles. This reduction applies to offences issued within the past three years and is valid from 1 June to 31 August 2024.
The violation can be settled through the Metrash2 application, the Ministry of Interior website, traffic sections or unified service centres.
What this means
It is important to verify and settle traffic violations through the government platforms to avoid any complications when leaving the country.
How we can help
We anticipate further amendments to be introduced by the government to existing and new services and it is imperative to stay up to date on these developments. Our team will continue to closely monitor and provide timely guidance on any new updates announced by the government.
