Immigration
Romania | Format of residence permits for beneficiaries of temporary protection status to be amended
Summary
From 17 May 2024, the format of residence permits issued to beneficiaries or temporary protection status, such as Ukrainian nationals, will include the holder’s full address. This is following a change in legislation by the Romanian government.
The detail
From 17 May 2024, the adoption of Government Ordinance 505/2024 brings some changes to the Government Ordinance 367/2022 regarding the establishment of conditions for ensuring temporary protection status in Romania. These legislative changes are of interest to Ukrainian nationals residing in Romania. In addition to the previous format, the residence permit for the beneficiaries of temporary protection status in Romania will now include the full residential address.
In order to attest the residential address in Romania, the applicants for temporary protection status will need to submit supporting documents to the competent territorial Inspectorate for Immigration, when requesting the issuance of the residence permit. Such supporting documents can be the lease agreement, commodatum contract, property title, etc.
In the absence of supporting documents, the authorities will include in the residence permit only the city of residence, as verbally declared by the applicant.
Current holders of temporary protection permits have been granted the possibility of obtaining the new model of permit, containing the full residential address, free of charge until 13 November 2024.
